Currently we are running virtual machines on ‘VMware ESXi 5.5 Update 2’ with build number 2068190 which was released on 2014/09/09 which officially does not support windows 10 but it can be installed and while installing windows 10 gets categorized under ‘windows 8 pro’ . The current stable version of VMware is ‘ESXi 7.0 Update 2a’ with build number 17867351 which was released on 2021/04/29 . Can we be able to upgrade our VMware so that guest machine having windows 10 OS gets detected correctly?
If it is possible to upgrade ESXI hardware from old version to newer version, customer may use upgrade option to address this issue or will have to procure new ESXI hardware with latest version.
