What is the difference between Linked and Child incidents?

Linked Incidents: Whenever incidents of similar nature occurs within an entity / organization, the helpdesk co-ordinator / technician groups such records as part of a master record and tracks the single master record to closure . Whenever the master incidents are closed / moved to a logical end state, the corresponding linked incidents also gets closed / moved to a logical end state based on the states configured in the available config settings.

Child incidents: Child records are used to divide a parent record in to sub tasks / records which requires various team’s / engineers involvement in addressing them. Each child record may be tracked under a different ownership. The system allows the parent record to move further / resolve, once all the child records are moved to a particular group of states.
